Mindset – when you are doing a short sale, it’s important to know who you are talking too, and against whom you are working. It’s important to know the process of what goes on. As in the immigration process, the problem is not people(Mexicans or latinos), nor is the problem the people at the bank(it’s not your negotiator or processor or seller), the problem is simply the RED TAPE and procedure following. It’s bureaucracy…it’s important to know that the system is broken.
Also, with banks, the system is broken. When you are talking with a negotiator or person at the bank, it’s not that they want to be unhelpful, it’s that they are disempowered to follow procedures and not to think. They are simply committed to ‘procedure # 9, or what their boss told them, or they are working with the ‘way it’s always been done’. Ya’ll understand this?
It’s important to be ready to go around these rules and go outside the box to break the box or go around it to better your situation. You have to escalate the call frequently…understand?
